Our Heart's Desires

Image
Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. (5 ) Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. Psalms 37:4-5 NKJV This week I am very thankful and grateful as the Lord of the Universe provided for us once again.  We were able to sell our house after just four days on the market.  My trust did not fail but I admit I had some churning in my stomach wondering “when” it would happen!  God is so good as He shows His love for us.  It honestly amazes me at times that He cares about things like selling a house.  People who are sick-yes, healings-yes.  People in distress-yes. Calamity and destruction-yes.  But me and my wants and desires?  I am humbled and overwhelmed with His love.  He truly wants what is best for us. As I searched the scriptures about God’s love and receiving the desires of our heart, I found several that spoke to me as we now begin the search for a new home.   John 15:7-8 NLT “ But if you remain in m

Renewing Our Mind

How do we take our thoughts captive and renew our mind?  2 Corinthians  10:4.5  NKJV “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, (5) casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”.  Romans 12:2 NKJV “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” These two scriptures go hand in hand for me.  We can think thoughts that are not pleasing to God.  We can be negative and without hope.  We could be involved in a sinful activity.  Our joy in the Lord might be lacking.   Strongs #5218 defines obedience as attentive hearing, to listen with compliant submission, assent and agreement.  There are steps we can take to change our patterns of  thinking and bring our thoughts into obedience to Christ. We can read scriptu

God's Love vs Sin

Image
Good Morning Friends, I have had many thoughts on my mind and heart today about what to write.  I believe God wants me to share about sin and God’s undying, unconditional love for everyone.   What I have experienced is that God loves us so much that when we accept Jesus as our savior and He lives in our heart, He will not leave us in our sin.  Jesus has paid the price for our sins when He died on the cross.  Romans 5:8,9 NLT “ but God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (9)And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, He will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.” We often do not fully grasp what He wants us to understand.  God is looking to affect our hearts more than our minds.  He wants to change the way our hearts feel about sinful behavior.   The question God asks of us is “Do You Love Me?”  Once we understand the depth of that question and what it means to “love our God with all our hear

Anxiety vs Prayer

Image
Greetings Friends,  I prayed about what to write to you and the Lord brought the words worry and anxiety to mind. Then I thought, really God, shouldn’t I be writing something about Mother’s Day? The answer was no. How quick I was to question the word I received. I repented.   Jesus said in Matthew 6:25, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on.” NKJV My New Spirit Filled Life Study Bible defines the word worry in the Greek as Strong’s #3309, Merimnao. It comes from the word Merizo and means “to divide into parts.”  It goes on to say that the word suggests a distraction, a preoccupation with things causing anxiety, stress, and pressure. Jesus speaks against worry and anxiety because of the watchful care of a heavenly Father who is ever mindful of our daily needs. The words “to divide into parts” really stood out to me. Those words describe exactly how I feel when I let anxiety take over, i
