Advent Week 2- Peace
The second week of Advent we remember the gift of Peace we have in Christ. Peace is a gift that we must be prepared for and must work for. God gives us the gift of peace when we turn to Him, working together in faith.
Our peace comes through our faith in Christ that He is in control.
Faith: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
I believe peace and faith go hand in hand. As we grow in faith in Jesus, the peace in our hearts becomes more real. His peace is like nothing else. It is an inner calm in the midst of external chaos. As we shift our gaze from the turbulence in our lives to our Savior, peace ensues.
Philippians 4:7 “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
We can have peace in our minds and hearts as we focus on Jesus and not the problem we are facing. It seems impossible sometimes but that feeling of
“Peace that passes understanding” is something only Jesus can give us.
Seek Him in the midst of your unsettled life and see how He works to bring you peace. But… we must have faith that He is able to bring peace when our lives are out of control.
Jesus, in the Bible is called the “Prince of Peace”. The peace He brings is not what the world expected, but it is what we need. Let’s look to Him, for peace in our hearts and minds. As we ask, He will answer.
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be on His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Wishing you Peace in this busy Christmas season.
