Wisdom

Today I want to look at wisdom.   Wisdom:  #1.  The ability to discern or judge what is true, right or lasting; insight                     #2.  Common sense; good judgment.                 #3.  The sum of  learning through the ages; knowledge. I like all of these definitions.  As you can see by the first definition, wisdom often goes along with discernment.  We need wisdom to discern how to use good judgment.  I also like # 3.  Those that have known Jesus personally for many years frequently have an abundance of knowledge that the immature believer may not have obtained yet. I look to women and men in our church body for counsel knowing they have years of experience and wisdom.  Many have given me Godly advice.  I so appreciate their guidance.  Spiritually, wisdom should look different from the world’s definition....

God's Promises

  1.  I will be with you. 2.  I will protect you 3.  I will be your strength                     4.  I will answer you 5.  I will provide for you 6.  I will give you peace 7.  I will always love you These are 7 promises of God.  As I read these, I was reminded of how much God loves me, by giving me these promises.  I am truly amazed. 1.  “I will be with you. ”  There are many scriptures that assure us of this.  Exodus 4:12 NLT “ Now go! I  will be with you  I as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say” Jeremiah 1:8 NLT “ And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you.  I, the Lord, have spoken!” Two of my favorites, Isaiah 43:2 NLT “ When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. ” And Isaiah 41:10 NLT  “ Don’t be afraid, for I am with you” Genesis 31:3, Genesis 26:3, Psalms 91:15, ...

Life's Disappointment

July 3, 2020 Today my heart is hurting.  Life does not always go how we want. What do we do with disappointment and discouragement?  When you have prayed so long about a certain issue and there is no indication that there will be an answer that is positive towards you?  It is so easy to say the words “God knows and is in control”  Or to quote Romans 8:28 NKJV  “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Do I believe it, does it bring me comfort?  Can I say it with conviction to someone else who is hurting more than me? I do believe those words and I can remember many times when it was true.  But…do I truly believe it for this situation when it has gone so terribly wrong so many times. In all honesty, I want to call out to God “Why?”  Why do I feel abandoned and hopeless? What must she be feeling?  What do I say to my friend to give her ...
