His Grace is Sufficient

Happy Fall Friday,

Looking outside at the fog I can definitely tell fall has arrived.  The changing seasons bring comfort to me.  Life is continuing on despite the many problems of the past several months.  Life changes, disappointments, stressful family and friend situations, illnesses and deaths.  They all contribute to who we are and who God is shaping us to be.

2 Corinthians 12:9 Amp is also a comfort to me “But He has said to me: My grace is sufficient for you [My loving-kindness and mercy are more than enough- always available – regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.  Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me.”

Strong’s #5485 charis – It is the word for God’s grace as extended to sinful man.  It signifies
unmerited favor, undeserved blessing.  A free gift.

God’s grace…a free gift, without it we would not have                                                                           salvation.  The Bible is clear, we can’t earn salvation.

Ephesians 2:8,9 NLT “God saved you by His grace when you believed.  And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. (9) Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”

Romans 6:14 Amp “sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law.  Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.”

This verse does not say we are free to sin.  We are not a slave to sin and don’t have a list of rules to follow, but we are to obey Christ who guides us now.  We should want to be free from sin because of His great love for us.  However, if we do sin, we have forgiveness through God’s grace and mercy.  James 4:6 Amp  “But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation].  Therefore, it says: God is opposed to the proud and haughty, but [continually]gives [the gift of] grace to the humble [who turn away from self-righteousness].”

Romans 5:20,21 NLT  “God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were.  But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. (21) So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

2 Timothy 1:9 NLT “For God saved us and called us to live a holy life.  He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan frombefore the beginning of time – to show us His grace through Christ Jesus.”

I could share so many more scriptures on grace.  There are 170 in the Bible.  Maybe you can tell, it is my favorite gift from God.  I am so grateful for the grace He bestows on me and all people.  Believers and non-believers.  Because of His grace, I have hope when I falter and hope for those who are not walking with the Lord.

HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT!
Stay well, Stay safe
